Sponsored by Dan and Lori Raleigh, Cedar Rapids, 04/11 - 04/12.
Ellis died quite unexpectedly, in Jenni's arms, on 7/28/11. A necropsy revealed that he had a lung abscess that had ruptured. After his scary life on the streets, we're so glad he was safe and happy here for his final few months.

Biography: Ellis was rescued near Ellis Park by a wonderful Witty Kitties' supporter, Lori Raleigh of Cedar Rapids. He had patrolled the 1900 block of Ellis Blvd after the flood of 2008 and took up residence in an abandoned house with another cat, a coyote, coons, and snakes! When his house was finally scheduled for demolition, Lori took action and caught him. Lori wanted Ellis to be a "trap/neuter/release" kitty -- that why his left ear is "tipped." But then we discovered Ellis had a double-whammy diganosis of both feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus. He stayed in a haven for a couple weeks, adjusting to the sights and sounds of his new home at Witty Kitties. He's very skittish and shy, but is slowly coming out of his shell. With lots of love and gradual, calm attention from humans, we hope that he'll soon be more social. Already he lets adults rub the top of his head! He's not too fond of children, though. This handsome boy has overcome a lot, and now he has found a place to be safe and warm for the rest of his life (unless, of course, you decide he deserves even better -- a forever home with you!).
