Witty Kitties: August, 2011
Biography: Lydia came from a deserted farm and was rescued by Mary Blount of the Iowa Humane Alliance. When she arrived at Witty Kitties, Lydia was very shy, malnourished, and had a fairly serious upper respiratory infection. She basically hid in a carrier for the first couple of weeks, but one of our dedicated volunteers, Lori Van Loh, stopped by often to comfort her and talk to her. After a month or so of gaining weight & confidence, Lydia graduated from the infirmary to Room 3, and she's doing great! We can hold her and pet her, and every day she is becoming more and more secure and confident. She is very tiny (about 5 pounds), but aside from being small for her age, she has no other health issues. It's hard to believe she's a year old, but we thinks that's a good estimate given the wear and tartar on her teeth when she arrived. Lydia had a really rough start in life, but she's doing fine now and is hoping to find a home really soon!
