Ale's health declined slowly as a result of the feleuk virus, and his bone marrow eventually stopped producing blood cells.  We said a very sad good-bye on 05/07/16.

Biography:         Ale was an outdoor neighborhood stray who came morning and evening to Sophia's porch for food.  This winter she noticed he was not looking very good, so she caught him and took him to the vet.  Ale's gums and teeth were in bad shape and he was in a lot of pain.  Plus he was both FIV and FeLV positive, so returning him to the neighborhood colony did not seem like a good idea.  Ale was both scared and depressed when he arrived, but he's made great progress.  He had some much-needed dental work, and is eating like a horse!  He now enjoys moving from perch to perch in his room, and loves exploring his outdoor enclosure at night.  He's not a lap cat quite yet, but every day he get more brave.  And his gentle sweetness shines through all the fear.
