Sponsored by Deb Heath, Iowa City, 03/15 - 05/15
April suddenly had trouble breathing, and we helped her over the bridge on 05/12/15.  A necropsy showed a large quantity of lymphatic fluid compressing her lungs and a lymphoma tumor larger than her heart.  Poor sweet April -- she compensated so well that we didn't know there was anything wrong until the very end.

Biography:          April is a stray from Des Moines.  She wandered into a warehouse and was rescued by Shelby, one of the employees, who took her home and nursed her overnight.  April was skin and bones, fighting a respiratory infection, and limping due to an old, poorly healed leg injury.  When Shelby took April to the vet the next day, they discovered she was FeLV positive.  She stayed at the Highland Park Animal Hospital in Des Moines for nearly a month, where she gradually gained wait and recovered from her respiratory infection.  After a second confirmatory FeLV test, Shelby transported April to Witty Kitties.  She's a tiny little thing, but the sweetest cat ever.  She purrs up a storm whenever anyone gives her any attention, and sometimes for no reason at all!  She's still a little gimpy on her injured leg, but it doesn't seem to cause her any pain.  Everyone has fallen in love with her, and you will too!
