Biography: Haven is a beautiful and rare red Siamese mix.
She was rescued from an abuse/neglect situation in the fall of 2007 by Friends of the Animals in Tipton. She had been
locked in a small crate with no food, no water, and no litter box for at least a week, and was so covered in her own excrement
that you couldn't even tell what color she was. Besides being dehydrated and underweight, she had a severe upper
respiratory infection and conjunctivitis. She's now fully recovered with only one chronic issue -- a blocked duct
in her left eye that should drain tears into her nasal passage. Dr. Doll was unable to clear the blockage and believes
it is permanent scarring due to her severe upper respiratory infection last fall. As a result, Haven's
tears pool up in her eye and then run down her face, causing discoloration. There's a slight risk of infection,
since the pooled tears can harbor bacteria -- simple flushing of her eye with eye wash will minimize that risk. We've
been blotting under her eye regularly with a wet cotton ball, and she almost seems to like it now! In spite of her abuse,
she is extremely affectionate and has one of the loudest purrs you've ever heard. With just a little TLC, she will
not only be beautiful, but could be the best purr therapy you'll ever have!
